Law student carrel assignments: deadline 5/23/2008

15 April 08 - 10:20

The 7th floor of the Law Library is closed through the end of the fall semester for a roof replacement project. Floors 2 through 6 will remain open through the construction project. During this construction project we ask for your patience with aesthetics and noise conditions as this improvement is made. The Law Library arranged for law student use of a limited number of Lockwood Library study carrels for the summer and fall semesters. The carrels are not guaranteed to be quiet, are not secure, and are assigned for one semester at a time. There is no guarantee that every law student carrel request can be granted. Registration for carrels available over the summer is OPEN NOW and will END ON May 23, 2008. Carrel assignment notification will take place during the week of May 26th.

Follow this link to apply for a Lockwood Library study carrel: http://libweb.lib.buffalo.edu/Carrel/CarrelApplication22a.asp

Please direct any questions or concerns about Lockwood Library study carrels to Miranda Ashby, msnyder2@buffalo.edu.

Hein Online Searchable on Google Scholar

21 March 08 - 17:25

Hein Online, the extensive collection of PDF versions of law review articles, primary legal sources, and more, is now indexed by Google Scholar.  Google Scholar is different from regular Google; it indexes the "deep web," or proprietary (here, scholarly) databases that are not accessed by a regular Google search.  You'll still need to authenticate through UB to access Hein Online content (if you're using an on-campus PC you should be able to authenticate automatically), but this provides another way of finding scholarly information through the familiar Google system.  (Hat tip to Bonnie Shucha at WisBlawg.)
