Empirical Legal Studies--New Database
17 January 08 - 11:53
From the American Association of Law Libraries ALL-SIS listserv:
Through the collaborative efforts of Cornell and UCLA, there is now
available a bibliographic database of empirical legal studies and
scholarship: the ELS Bibliography. It is available at:
http://www.law.ucla.edu/home/apps/els/ The database is a work-in-progress,
and we welcome any comments or suggestions that users may have. The
database allows author, title, and subject searching, as well as limiting
by year. For more background information on the project, be sure to check
the database description.
Empirical legal studies are increasingly important in the legal academy as
it evolves to become more interdisciplinary. Moreover, empirical legal
scholarship has direct relevance to the discussions of legal issues in
today's public and political discourse. Thus, we hope that the ELS
Bibliography will be a welcome resource.
Thank you,
Matt Morrison

State collection now integrated
15 January 08 - 09:46
The Law Library has been maintaining state legal materials in two different collections, using two different call number schemes.
The State Core collection (3rd floor) has been arranged by specialized call numbers US/A - US/W, while the other state legal materials (4th floor) have used Library of Congress call numbers KFA-KFX. These two different collections have now been integrated into one single collection on the THIRD FLOOR. All state legal materials are now shelved together by state, regardless of call number system.
New York Core materials continue to be located on the 2nd floor. Other New York materials (KFN) are located on the 3rd floor.
If you need assistance locating any materials, please ask at the Reference Desk.
