Great American Clean Up
The Great American Clean Up is this Saturday, May 5th, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. There are two locations in the University Heights district: 173 Minnesota Avenue and 44 Merrimac Street. Garbage bags, gloves, and tools will be provided. Contact 829-3524 with any questions.
Free Movie for Fair Housing Month
Erie County Fair Housing Partnership, Inc., presents a free showing of the movie I Am Sam Thursday, May 10th, at 7:00pm to acknowledge Fair Housing Month 2007. The showing will take place at The Church at 314 Delaware Ave. Along with the showing of the film there will be special presentations by members the local Self Advocacy Association of New York State.
Green Thumbs Wanted
Join area leaders, community groups, and concerned citizens for the Green and Growing Summit on Saturday, May 19th, from 8am-1:30pm at Buffalo State College. The Summit aims to build action around revitalizing streets, neighborhoods, your property, parks, vacant lots, and the waterfront. Tickets are $10 for students, $20 for the public. More information is available at www.cfgb.org.
Framing UB
The university has launched "Framing UB," a year-long photo and video contest for students, faculty, and staff. Participants will be invited to submit digital images and brief commentaries about their favorite—and not-so-favorite—places on UB's campuses. The contest Web page is at www.buffalo.edu/ub2020/plan/.
