Welcome
Kate Cunningham-Hendrix opened the meeting at 2:30pm in 120 Clemens Hall.
Opening Remarks
Barbara von Wahlde reviewed the last 18 months at the University and in the Libraries, noting the factors that will help to re-envision the Libraries for the coming years:
- The new UB administration
- UB 2020 planning process, including active participation by Libraries’ faculty and staff in the envisioning retreats
- The Libraries’ Annex
- The current strategic planning effort lead by CIO Voldemar Innus involving directors from CIT and the Libraries.
Electronic Periodicals Management Department (EPMD)
Susan Davis presented information on the organization, structure and achievements to date of the Electronic Periodicals Management Department she co-directs with Cindy Hepfer. See the attached PowerPoint presentation (EMPD May05.ppt) for complete details on the service.
ALEPH Update
Mark Ludwig reported on a May 10 meeting with the CIO regarding our proposal for the Aleph Implementation project. The project will run from Fall 2005 through December 2006 with a target date of July 17, 2006 for conversion completion and the beginning of production processing. Law Library Update
Jim Milles reported on the Law Library’s progress in recovering from its recent fire.He focused on the use of a blog to communicate with Law Library students, faculty and staff, and thanked everyone who helped the Law Library maintain services and access during this difficult time.Marilyn Kramer noted that this was an instance of the campus disaster plan in action, and that it worked well. iprint@UB
Amy DiMatteo reported on the progress of CIT in implementing the GoPrint software to help manage public printing.The iprint@UB website (http://www.cit.buffalo.edu/iprint/) has the most recent information.Amy also discussed the background and reasons for having CIT assume responsibility for all public workstations in the Libraries and current work on developing the machine images, signage, etc.She reiterated that the maintenance of all Libraries’ staff machines – including those in staff offices, reference desks, circulation desks, ILLiad and public CD-ROM stations - will remain with ULIT.
