The University at Buffalo Libraries Propose a Center of Excellence in Visual & Literary Arts through Digital Technology
Introduction
To build upon the strengths of the University at Buffalo, last year the Provost called university wide for focus of excellence proposals. We received notice from Voldemar Innus asking that we draft a document outlining what might constitute a Center of Excellence using unique items and collections held throughout the libraries and the extensive manuscript collections in The Poetry Collection. Drafted quickly, the following proposal is the response to that request. While extensive revisions and considerations went into this draft proposal, it is very much a work in progress. In conversations and meetings additional ideas, omissions and possible revisions have been suggested. However, we felt that extensive revisions should be reserved for a time after the draft received wide exposure and constructive feedback was received and considered
