University Libraries Directors Council meeting notes

Announcements and Discussion Topics:

  1. Heart of the Campus: Steve Roberts presented the 21st Century Library report to the Steering Committee. The Steering Committee will now consider the reports from all HOTC groups to make recommendations and set priorities. The library report will be posted to the staffWEB.
  2. Recent meetings: Steve reported on his recent meetings with the Provost, the Faculty Senate Library Committee, Sean Sullivan, FEC and the ARL Directors. Steve, Bob Shibley, Beth DelGenio (Provost’s Office), Sean Sullivan and Robert Hoeing (Faculty Senate Chair) will meet with FEC and PEC to discuss the Libraries’ resolution.
  3. December 4th Forum on UB’s Physical Plan: All staff are encouraged to attend the meeting at the “UB Downtown Gateway” at 77 Goodell Street. See http://www.buffalo.edu/yourub/ for details.
  4. Human Resources: Gemma DeVinney provided updates on searches and a recent meeting with Lucinda Finley related to required changes in the Libraries’ faculty Bylaws.
  5. Schedule Changes: Karen Senglaup lead a discussion on library hours when the University is closed during the holidays. Library hours will remain as set for the Thanksgiving weekend, but will change for December 24th and 31st, when only the Law Library and Health Sciences Library will be open. Gemma will send an email to ublib.
  6. Holiday Party: Stacy Person reported on the Libraries’ holiday party scheduled for December 19th from 2-5pm in Special Collections. Invitations will be out this week.
  7. Development Officer: Judith Adams-Volpe reported on the search for the Development Officer for the Libraries and the Honors College.
  8. SUNY Collections and Access Council: Austin Booth reported on recent changes in SCAC membership.
  9. Thanks: The group offered thanks to Beth Adelman for her excellent service during Jim Milles’s sabbatical. Jim will return in early December.
