University Libraries Directors Council meeting notes

Announcements and Discussion Topics:
- Sean Sullivan joined the group to discuss matters pertaining to budgets and addressed both the Capital Budget recommendations which need to be submitted by October 26 as well as budget justifications needed for future materials budget increases. Sean will be joining a sub-group of the Director’s Council for further discussions on what he feels is needed to provide him with a greater understanding of how research libraries are funded at other Universities. Work can then commence on gathering that information for use in justifying future funding needs for the Libraries. The Capital Budget request is an inventory that will provide the Academic Planning unit with a current and complete inventory of the University’s capital needs. Karen will gather information from unit heads and create a sequential timeline for library projects with projected costs.
- Stacy Person graciously agreed to host the annual Library Holiday Party in the DLC.
- John Edens briefly described the work that is being done in CTS to eventually convert to one OCLC symbol.
