- Steve distributed the draft of the Heart of the Campus Project, which consists of a steering committee and six subcommittees, including the 21st Century Library Planning Group. Group membership was discussed.
- Alex Cartwright, Vice Provost for Strategic Initiatives, visited to talk about the strategic planning initiatives and his role with that. He noted that there are now eight official strategic strengths, which have to be brought to the same level in terms of leadership, activities, etc. The goal for each group is academic excellence, however they get there.
- Austin will attend the October 3rd WNYLRC Annual Membership Meeting.
- Judy brought up the idea of an Undergraduate Research competition to be sponsored by the Libraries. This was proposed to the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and to CURCA, and both are very interested in the project.
- Beth spoke briefly about work being done in the Law Library to ready it for roof repairs, which will happen much sooner than originally planned.
- Karen Smith visited to report on LibQual 2007. She said that there hasn’t been much change from the previous two surveys.
- Karen Senglaup distributed a report on Library Annex activities since November 2006.
- Austin and Nancy distributed a draft of the position description for the Director of the Digital Library Center. The Council were asked to read it in preparation for discussion at the October 2nd meeting.
