Announcements and Discussion Topics
- Steve reported that the note regarding space renovation sent to Library staff was also sent to Beau Willis. As a result of that, Beau along with Bob Shibley and Sean Sullivan would like to meet with the Directors Council to answer any questions regarding planned space modifications. This will be scheduled for the April 10 DC Meeting.
- Austin informed the group on the most recent discussions at the SCAC meeting held in Syracuse. The main focus of the group has been in developing cost sharing models for the 2009 Science Direct contract renewal. These were shared with the DC.
- Karen reported on upcoming summer rehab projects that will close the main Capen entry point and affect the move of SEL periodicals to the Annex. The entrance will close due to reconstruction of Founder’s Plaza and ADA compliance rehabs that are scheduled for the summer of 2007. The main library entrance will be on the north side of Capen and move of materials will be from Lockwood B9.
- Steve reported on the 2007/08 acquisitions budget. The $500k to be received from the increased 07/08 Tech Fee is not new money; this is the return of money added in 06/07 from the CIO AO’s carry forward. Unless additional outside money is received, there will be no acquisitions increase. He will speak with Sean Sullivan about the implications of a flat budget.
- Margie reported that MEEBO will replace AIM as the Libraries’ Instant Messenger service. A presentation of this service will be made at the Town Forum.
- Karen announced that the architect and contractor associated with campus space planning will be attending the Town Forum to answer questions.
- The Poetry Collection will be participating in the ARL Anniversary publication on Special Collections.
- Nancy announced that the Poetry Collection is not pursuing the Conversations in the Disciplines Program.
