The Libraries Development Committee (LDC) determines major areas of program focus; organizes and oversees fund-raising, donor identification, cultivation, and recognition; and fosters campus and community partnerships. Specific activities include the following:
- Identification of prospective mid-range and major donor prospects.
- Stewardship of identified major donor prospects.
- Collaboration on the development and implementation of development/fund-raising initiatives and programs.
- Participation in University Annual and Capital campaign programs.
- Identification, on a yearly basis, of major areas of focus for donations and gifts.
- Development of procedures for acknowledgement, accurate recording, and recognition of gifts, including gifts-in-kind.
- Participation in planning and presentation of public programs designed with a development/fund-raising purpose (primary or secondary).
- Fostering of partnerships with entities/organizations within UB, and in the Western New York and/or SUNY communities.
- Collaboration on the preparation of UB Libraries’ Case Statements and proposals developed for individual donors and prospective donors.
- Oversight of the preparation of Libraries’ policies and procedures related to development, gifts, and fund-raising.
- Establishment and refining of measurable goals and means to track progress of development/fund-raising activities and programs.

Membership
The Libraries Development Committee (LDC) is chaired by the Director of Communication & Development. Members are the Directors of Special Collections, Health Sciences Library, Law Library, Technical Services, and the Curator of The Poetry Collection. The Acting Associate Vice President for University Libraries is an ex-officio member.

Meetings
The Libraries Development Committee (LDC) meets on the second Monday of each month. Dates are subject to change. All meetings are at 3:30 p.m.-5:00 p.m. Contact Judy Adams-Volpe, Chair, at adamsj@buffalo.edu to confirm the meeting schedule. Meeting notes are posted to the website routinely.
