As a part of Web of Science, which in turn is part of Web of Knowledge search system, Index Chemicus covers more than 100 of the world's leading organic chemistry journals, focusing on newly reported compounds. The database is text- and substructure-searchable including the complete bibliographic information, author abstract, reaction schematics, and individual chemical structures, the last two being attached directly to the literature record. It serves as both a compound database and a current awareness tool. It should always be searched simultaneously with Current Chemical Reactions (CCR). Note that reaction schematics from CCR and compound structures from Index Chemicus are appended to the same literature record.
Links to the full-text of articles are provided, although electronic access to some items may not be immediately available. Please use our Delivery+ document delivery service for any needed article that cannot be retrieved using the links embedded in this database. Index Chemicus can be searched simultaneously with all the other component databases of Web of Science or the entire Web of Knowledge set of databases, which assures the most comprehensive results. For a more comprehensive search across all fields of chemistry and materials science including thousands of journals and many other types of documents, searchers should consult SciFinder.
