ebrary Academic Complete is a dynamic collection of over 120,000 e-books across a wide variety of academic disciplines. The collection mainly includes e-books that were first published in recent decades, but also provides access to selected classic works.  Most e-books are in English, though some are in other European languages. Stable links directly to e-books and e-book chapters may be inserted into UBlearns for curricular use.

Desktop and laptop access: ebrary Academic Complete e-books can be read online using any standard web browser on a desktop or laptop computer. An overview of the ebrary online reader is available here.

Highlighting, note-taking, and hyperlinking features are available. Be sure to create a personal ebrary account in order to save your highlights and annotations.

A limited number of pages from most e-books can be printed or downloaded to PDF.  These PDF files do not expire – once you save them locally, they will remain available to you.  The page limits vary by title, 60 pages or lower is typical. The page limits are clearly shown on the details page of every e-book.

Entire e-books cannot be printed, but the entirety of some e-books can be downloaded for a limited period of time, after which they expire. The time limits vary by title, 14 days is typical. The time limits are clearly shown on the details page of every e-book. Downloading an entire e-book to your laptop or desktop requires:

  1. A free personal ebrary account.
  2. A free Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) and Adobe ID. This free software is different from Adobe Reader.
You will be guided through the process (including setting up your ebrary account and downloading ADE) the first time you download an e-book. More details on downloading entire e-books when using a desktop or laptop computer is available here.
Mobile Access: ebrary Academic Complete e-books can be dowloaded to your tablet or phone (iOS and Android are supported) using a free app called Bluefire Reader:
When on your mobile device, access ebrary Academic Complete and you will be guided through the process for downloading an e-book. More details are available here.
Note: ebrary Academic Complete is a subscription product and e-books are not permanently owned by the UB Libraries. The collection is continually growing and subject to change.
