Description

The University Libraries hold over 2,000 books on this platform. All are fully cataloged. A significant number are about business or health science topics. In early 2010, OCLC NetLibrary was purchased by EBSCO Publishing. Most of these titles were originally made available by NetLibrary and can be identified in the catalog by doing a keyword search for NetLibrary. The NetLibrary attribution maps to eBooks on EBSCOhost. “eBooks on EBSCOhost” is the official company assigned name for the product.

Titles are findable through a simple catalog search; the eBooks on EBSCOhost portal may also be searched. The interface is the same as that used for all EBSCO databases. Most titles are single user only, so when a title is in use it can be neither used nor borrowed by another user. Most books can be downloaded; but this option must first be chosen by the owning Library. To download a book a user must create a My EBSCOhost account and have Adobe Digital Editions installed on his/her computer. Select “Open With” when downloading and the book will open in Adobe Digital Editions. Loan periods are variable and are selected by the reader.

Using Adobe Digital Editions, downloaded books may be transferred from a computer to either a Nook or a Sony Reader. EBSCO ebooks will not load on a Kindle. With the appropriate app (BlueFire for Apple and iOS as well as Android or Aldiko for Android) they will load on Apple and Android devices. In addition, EBSCO offers an app for accessing EBSCOhost from a iOS (iPhone, iPad Touch, and iPad) and Android devices. The app is available for download from the Android market.

Note: If you are using a Mac, you will need to install a PDF Browser plug-in in order to use the eBook Viewer.  Click to download the Schubert|it plug-in.
