Overview

The Greenpoint Manufacturing and Design Center is an arts and industry complex located in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York. The center was created and managed by a collective of woodworking manufacturers, crafts people, and artisans who formed the collective to purchase eight industrial buildings from the city of New York and to save their complex. Through rehabilitation of this troubled but architecturally significant mill building, the collective established space for incubator workshops and studios with easy access to the downtown markets. Greenpoint has thus maintained and created jobs that otherwise would have abandoned the city for suburban markets
