Jotwell: The Journal of Things We Like (Lots)
The University Libraries posted a list of journal cancellations that will go into effect in January 2010. For more information, see http://libweb.lib.buffalo.edu/blog/?p=1134.
The Law Library now subscribes to the Max Planck Encyclopedia of Public International Law. The online edition offers more content than its print predecessor.
This newly updated encyclopedia covers all aspects of pubic international law. The entries are written by legal scholars and practitioners from all over the world, and cite to important primary and secondary resources.
This is a great resource to consult to understand a particular topic in international law, including individual conventions, treaties, events, organizations, and international law cases (check out “Aboriginal Title,” “Abuse of Rights”, “Dismemberment of States,” “Dogger Bank Incident (1904),” “International Criminal Court,” “Interpol,” “(Right to) Food,” “History of International Law,” “Hamdan Case,” “Human Trafficking,” “(Prohibition of) Torture,” “Trail Smelter Arbitration,” “World Health Organization”…).
This is also a great place to go to discover whether there is an international law component to any topic (check out “Amazon River,” “Astronauts,” “Child Abduction,” “Feminism,” “Holy Places,” “Jerusalem,” “Lighthouses and Lightships,” “Monaco,” “World Population”…)
The Encyclopedia is full text searchable, or you can browse an alphabetical or subject listing of topics. It can be accessed from any computer in the Law Library in O’Brian Hall.
