Karen Spencer Moves to University Archives
Posted: November 18th, 2009 by Nancy Babb

Karen Spencer
Friday, November 13th, 2009 marked the 35th anniversary of Karen Spencer’s tenure in the Charles B. Sears Law Library. Karen’s contributions to the Libraries and the Law School can be measured by a series of accomplishments in the Koren audiovisual department, in her role as instructor and reference librarian, as clinical instructor in the Asylum & Refugee Law Clinic, and in her service to both communities.

On Monday, November 16, 2009, Karen began a new journey as she joined the staff of the University Archives in Special Collections. Although this is a huge loss for the Law Library and the Law School, we celebrate Karen’s pursuit of her passion for Special Collections. Karen’s new responsibilities include: Arrangement and processing of university record collections, faculty papers, and manuscript collections; Updating and conversion of finding aids for University Archives legacy collections to EAD (Encoded Archival Description); Participating in the implementation of database access to archival and manuscript finding aids in the University Libraries.

Please join us in wishing Karen well on her new journey.
