The University at Buffalo Libraries, in cooperation with the Center for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities, are pleased to announce the winner of the 2013 Undergraduate Prize for Library-Supported Research. The $500 prize recognizes students who produce significant academic inquiry requiring the use of information resources, the Libraries, and the collections.
This year’s winner is Nathan Guterry (Junior, Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering) for his project, “Microgravity Characterization of Zirconia Monolithic Electrokinetic Micropumps”, an investigation of electrokinetic fluid transport under near zero gravity conditions. This project was a team effort led by Nathan and selected to be included in the 2013 NASA Microgravity Flight Program. The faculty mentor for this project was Dr. Luis A. Colón of the Department of Chemistry. Numerous electronic and print resources provided by the Libraries supported the research of Nathan and his team.
The Libraries are proud of our support and role in this impressive research project. Guterry will be honored at the Celebration of Academic Excellence on April 12, 2013 in the Center for the Arts, in addition to a library reception to be held on April 17, 2013.
