>Monographs: Part III. Methods and Types of Acquisition
1) Firm Orders
The Acquisitions Department (CTS) is responsible for ordering and receiving all one-time orders in all languages and formats for ASL. Selectors may send orders to the Acquisitions Department using either the paper monograph request form (pdf) or the online monograph request form. If the item being ordered is over $200, please consult with the Director for Collections for approval. All orders should include the following information.
a) Location Code (commonly used location codes include: LML [use for Lockwood books], SEL [use for SEL books], UGL [use for UGL books], APL [use for APL books], LOR [Lockwood reference], SER or UGR [Capen reference], CC [Curriculum collection], SEA [Multimedia collection], LOP [Polish collection], LOJ [Juvenile collection], SEZ [Map collection]
b) Fund Code Please note that a special fund, managed by the head of the reserves department, is used to purchase titles that are to be put on course reserve. There are frequently restrictions in terms of what subjects/sorts of materials may be purchased with non-state funds. Please ask the Director of Collections before using any non-state funds.
c) Selector's Initials
d) List Price and ISBN
e) Selector should also provide the following information if it is relevant:

2) Alerts and Forms Plans
3) Approval Plans (vendors send material relative to a library subject profile; items require library approval and are therefore returnable)
4) Purchase Plans (vendor driven plans created under a designated profile; the vendor ships everything that falls under profile designations. These items are non-refundable)
5) Blanket Order Plans (a publisher automatically sends directly to the library everything that they publish; items are non-returnable; most often for our purposes these are an organization's or society's publications; e.g.: ALA, Brookings, IMF, MLA, etc.)
