Collection contains files of Marchand (Shonnie) Finnegan as Secretary & Vice President of the University of Buffalo Chapter, American Association of University Professors and it's Committee on Academic Freedom and Tenure, mainly concerning the period of campus unrest, 1969-1971 and the arrest of the 45 faculty members during student protests in the Spring of 1970. Also included are some faculty grievance files and publications from the national association.

Graduate Student Association Records Part I, 1963-1970

Records of the Graduate Students Association of the State University of New York at Buffalo reflecting the interest of the GSA in issues of university governance and policies pertaining to graduate studies including correspondence; financial records; reports; minutes; and other materials.

Also records documenting graduate student involvement in the social issues in the 1960s such as opposition to the House Committee on Un-American Activities in 1964; opposition to the war in Vietnam; and support for the civil rights movement. Guest speakers at GSA-sponsored events included Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Benjamin Spock.

Harcleroad (Fred F.) Student Unrest Collection, circa 1964-1972

Collection contains materials collected by Dr. Fred F. Harcleroad on student unrest in colleges and universities during the 1960s and early 1970s concerning the attitudes of the public and students during the unrest period on racial riots, university and high school governance, students' academic freedom and their role in university administration, the Vietnam War and political issues during the Nixon administration. Included are newspaper clippings, magazines (U.S. News and World Report, Harpers, News Week), magazine articles, pamphlets, newsletters, speeches, "speech materials", interoffice memos, minutes and papers from conferences, catalogs, and unpublished essays.

Printed material collected by Lipset and others at Harvard University between 1967 and 1971. Includes student publications; articles for scholarly journals and popular magazines; newspaper clippings and studies concerning student activist movements throughout the world, with emphasis on the United States, Latin America, and international student organizations. Also many unpublished studies about students originally prepared for presentation at conferences or for graduate courses. This collection reflects only a partial result of the material collected by the project.

Somit (Albert) Papers, 1967-1976

Professional papers of Dr. Albert Somit which pertain to Dr. Somit's research, relations with fellow scholars, and the evaluation of the graduate political science program at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Of particular interest are the papers concerning "BIOS" (so called from the French version of its title, "International Investigation of the Biological Elements in the Crisis of the University") which include correspondence, research papers, and other items concerning a multi-national project to investigate the relationship between biological factors and student unrest in universities in the United States, Argentina, France, and elsewhere.
